Even among the most savage murderers, Russian cannibal Dmitry Luchin is regarded as one of the most horrifying individuals to have ever lived.
The vicious killer became infamous across Russia for the 2018 murder of his partner, with the chilling details of the case leaving the nation appalled. Luchin, aged just 23 at the time, arrived at the home of his 45-year-old partner Olga Budunova under the guise of marking International Women's Day, but the disturbing killer harboured far darker plans.
Shortly after the couple drank wine together, Luchin repeatedly smashed a bottle over her head, killing her before systematically dismembering her body with a meat cleaver. What followed left even experienced detectives horrified.
The deranged murderer is reported to have calmly cooked portions of Budunova's brain before consuming them, accompanied by a glass of her blood which he had drained from her body.
He removed her stomach, severed her ears, positioning one inside her mouth and the other in the household cat's dish, and wrote obscenities across her body using blood and purple nail varnish.

Luchin, who is believed to be a devil worshipper and practitioner of the occult, then used her blood to paint demonic symbols on the door, attempting to summon Lucifer himself.
Despite his satanic motives, he would subsequently tell police he sampled the cooked brain portions twice because he "liked the taste", reports the Mirror.
Prosecutors revealed Luchin had developed an "obsession" with serial killers, dedicating countless hours to sinister websites focused on murderers. Throughout his trial, Luchin started delivering a peculiar poem from within the metal cage where he was confined, asserting he was "no maniac, murderer or cannibal," instead portraying himself as a "student, sportsman and poet".
Judge Alexey Stanovsky interrupted him when he launched into a tirade about infamous Soviet serial killer Andrei Chikatilo. Luchin was deemed mentally competent and found guilty of murder with "special cruelty."
He will complete his 19-year sentence in a strict-regime penal colony.
Budunova's heartbroken neighbours stated they would never erase the horrific scenes from her flat from their memories. One said: "It was like something from another world. No human could do what he did."
