A TEENAGER has been killed in a tragic skiing accident in Austria – after he fell down the side of a slope in front of horrified tourists and his dad.

The schoolboy, 14, is understood to have gone off-piste before falling several metres down onto a pile of loose rocks in the Feuerkogel ski resort.

The father and son were part of a 20-person group of tourists from Czech Republic.

They were skiing on the Gruber Familie slope, a blue route which is usually used by beginners.

The tragedy unfolded at around 10am on Monday in Ebensee, located in Upper Austria.

Although the boy was wearing a helmet, it reportedly broke as he fell over a pile of rocks, local cops told Krone newspaper.

Due to the weather, there was reportedly a lack of snow by the side of the mountain to cushion the boy’s fall, according to Bild.

Emergency workers rushed to the scene of the accident and tried to resuscitate the boy for about an hour.

But the tragic schoolboy was pronounced dead at the scene despite their efforts.

The victim’s dad reportedly drove from the Alps to the Czech Republic following the tragic ordeal to inform the boy’s mum of his tragic death.

Local police have launched an investigation into the accident to determine the full circumstances of the boy’s fall.

It comes after an Irish teenager allegedly fled after being involved in a “high speed” skiing accident that left a 49-year-old man dead.

The tragedy happened on a popular slope in Schmittenhöhe, Austria on Saturday, and cops launched a search for the teen.

The teen reportedly turned himself in on Sunday, and is said to be a 14-year-old from Ireland.

The accident took place around 3pm on the Hirschkogel ski slope, reports say.

The 49-year-old and the teen are thought to have collided at high speed.

Sadly, there was nothing that could be done to save the man after the crash.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene.

A blonde woman, thought to be his mum, allegedly encouraged him to flee.

The teen spoke English, and had an injury on his inner thigh, witnesses added.
