A major missile warning has been issued by officials in the Kursk region, as Ukraine's army intensifies its attacks on Russian territory.

Ukraine has stunned the Kremlin after launching a surprise incursion on Tuesday that targeted the border region.

While the situation remains fluid, fierce fighting has been reported around the towns of Sudzha and Korenevo.

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) claim that geolocated images show Ukrainian units have advanced as far as 10 kilometres inland from the international border.

Zelensky's army appears to be intensifying its attack, as it launched a massive drone and missile bombardment of Russian regions overnight.

The attacks have sown panic and fear among local officials and the public alike, as Putin's army struggles to contain the onslaught.

This morning Kursk's regional governor Aleksey Smirnov issued a missile attack warning, advising citizens to stay inside.

He wrote on his Telegram channel: "Kursk region: missile danger! If you are at home, you need to take shelter in rooms without windows with solid walls: in the hallway, bathroom, pantry.

"If you are on the street, go into the nearest building or suitable shelter."

The governor has already declared a state of emergency and has initiated attempts to evacuate several villages close to the fighting.

Overnight, Ukrainian forces reportedly wiped out a Russian military column near the village of Oktyabrskoye in the Rylsky district of the Kursk region.

Video images shot by a passing driver appear to show vehicles belonging to the unit burning out of control.

Ukrainian drones and missiles targeted several Russian regions overnight - including Kursk, Lipetsk and Belgorod.

An airfield in Lipetsk was attacked by drones, which hit a warehouse containing weapons, causing a major fire to break out.

Images of the fire were filmed by a local resident, who can be heard saying: "The whole airfield is on fire, look there, f*ck what’s going on!”

Russia's Ministry of Defence claimed their air defence systems had shot down 75 UAVS overnight - these included 26 over the Belgorod region, 19 over Lipetsk and seven over Kursk.
