The pair's relationship is known to have soured, but the cause of the deterioration has long been subject to speculation.

Donald Trump broke off his relationship with Jeffery Epstein after claims were made about the paedophile financier’s behaviour by a teenage employee at Mar-a-Lago, it has been claimed. The growing demand for the release of the Epstein files has dominated the US news agenda in 2025, with critics of the president calling for more information about the relationship between the pair.
Trump and Epstein were known to be friends in the 1990s and early part of this century, years before the latter was convicted for solicitation of prostitution and solicitation of prostitution involving a minor. The pair are known to have fallen out prior to the financier’s fall from grace, with the exact reason remaining unknown. Trump has previously claimed to have broken off communication with Epstein after the latter attempted to poach a Mar-a-Lago employee.

Speaking during his visit to the UK earlier this year, the US President said: “He took people, I say ‘don’t do it anymore’, you know they work for me… beyond that, he took some others.
“Once he did that, that was the end of him.”
However, it has since emerged that Trump banned Epstein from the resort after an 18-year-old beautician complained to her managers about Epstein pressuring her for sex back in 2003.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the real estate mogul was sent a fax outlining the allegations, according to former employees of both Mar-a-Lago and Epstein.
Those spoken to allege that Epstein would become sexually suggestive and even expose himself during appointments at the upmarket resort where he would receive massages and other treatments.
Ex-employees claim that his behaviour was well known among spa staff, with some sent to Epstein’s nearby mansion upon request.

However, the young beautician’s complaint is believed to have been the straw that broke the camel’s back, with the billionaire banned from the resort following the inappropriate behaviour.
It remains unclear whether or not other official complaints had been made prior to the one which saw Epstein banned, but it is not believed that the allegations were passed on to the local police force.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has expressed her frustration at the ongoing reporting on the relationship between Trump and the paedophile, who was found dead in his prison cell in 2019, from an apparent suicide.
She said: “No matter how many times this story is told and retold, the truth remains.
“President Trump did nothing wrong and he kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago for being a creep.”

The revelation comes after the US Justice Department said that it may need a “few more weeks” to release all of its records on the late sex offender after suddenly discovering more than a million potentially relevant documents.
It further delays compliance with the congressionally mandated deadline from last Friday.
The Christmas Eve announcement came hours after a dozen US senators called on the Justice Department’s watchdog to examine its failure to meet the deadline.
The group, 11 Democrats and a Republican, told acting inspector general Don Berthiaume in a letter that victims “deserve full disclosure” and the “peace of mind” of an independent audit.
The Justice Department said in a social media post that federal prosecutors in Manhattan and the FBI “have uncovered over a million more documents” that could be related to the Epstein case — a stunning 11th hour development after department officials suggested months ago that they had undertaken a comprehensive review that accounted for the vast universe of Epstein-related materials.
The post did not say when the Justice Department was informed of the newly uncovered files.
