Real Madrid advanced to the Club World Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday after beating European rivals Juventus 1-0. Spanish sensation Gonzalo García scored the only goal of the match, while Kylian Mbappé made his tournament debut after missing the first round due to illness.

In Ligue 1, Lille officially announced the signing of French football legend Olivier Giroud. The 38-year-old striker signed a one-year deal after terminating his contract with Los Angeles FC.

In tennis, Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech stunned world No. 3 Alexander Zverev in the first round. Zverev joined the list of seeded players who were knocked out in the opening round. On the women’s side, world No. 2 Coco Gauff and world No. 3 Jessica Pegula were also eliminated.
