The Ministry of Labour has issued an advisory urging employers to step up safety measures as dusty and windy weather continues to affect Doha. The warning, issued on Sunday, focuses on protecting workers, particularly those operating outdoors or in exposed environments.
Advisory issued to employers
In an official statement, the ministry called on companies to strictly adhere to occupational safety and health requirements during the prevailing weather conditions. Employers have been asked to ensure that appropriate protective measures are in place at all worksites, with special attention given to locations where workers are directly exposed to dust and strong winds. The advisory highlights the increased risks posed by reduced visibility, airborne dust and unstable conditions, which can affect worker health and on-site safety if not properly managed.
Focus on monitoring and risk reduction
The ministry also stressed the need for continuous monitoring of weather developments. Employers have been advised to remain alert to changing conditions and adjust workplace practices accordingly to minimise risks. This includes modifying work schedules where necessary, strengthening on-site safety protocols and ensuring workers have access to suitable protective equipment to reduce exposure to dust and wind-related hazards. The Ministry of Labour said these steps are essential to safeguarding workers’ wellbeing during adverse weather conditions and maintaining safe working environments across affected sites.
