Senior Trump-era officials met with Ukrainian negotiators in Florida overnight in an effort to help broker an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine, laying the groundwork for pivotal talks in Moscow this week with Vladimir Putin. Today, US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, former President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, are holding discussions with the Russian leader, as the Kremlin claims it is open to peace negotiations while simultaneously insisting its wartime goals remain unchanged, raising doubts about its readiness to bring the conflict to a close.
