Putin ally paid for Trump Jr's wedding celebrations as 'extraordinarily generous gift'

Donald Trump Jr and his wife have said a Russian oligarch close to Vladimir Putin paid for two nights of their wedding celebrations as an "extraordinarily generous gift".The couple's statement comes after a US publication said Umar Kremlev "footed the bill for hundreds of thousands of dollars of wedding expenses" for the pair. The US president's eldest son married socialite Bettina Trump, formerly Anderson, in May, with the celebrations taking place across two private islands in the Bahamas.In a post on Instagram, Mrs Trump said on Monday: "Apparently our wedding is making headlines again, so a little clarity seems in order."She added they "got married privately" on a Friday, "surrounded ONLY by our family" "The weekend that followed had actually been planned well in advance as a fun weekend with friends," Mrs Trump continued.
