PSG took a big step towards the Champions League semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Liverpool at home in the first leg. Désiré Doué opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia doubled the lead in the 65th minute. The reigning champions could even have regrets, given how much they dominated the match (74 percent possession, 18 shots).

In the other match of the evening, Atletico Madrid claimed a surprising 2-0 victory over Barcelona. Antoine Griezmann’s side capitalised on Pau Cubarsí’s red card in the 43rd minute to gain a significant advantage ahead of the second leg in Madrid next Tuesday.

In tennis, Daniil Medvedev had a nightmare day in Monte Carlo. The world No. 10 lost 6-0, 6-0 to Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, a first in his career.
