A popular Dubai-based travel influencer has died, aged only 32. Fans of Anunay Sood were left distraught by the news, which was shared by the man's family.

The statement, shared on Mr Sood's Instagram account, read: "It is with deep sadness that we share the news of our beloved Anunay Sood's passing. We kindly ask for your understanding and privacy as we navigate this difficult time. We humbly request you to avoid gathering crowds near personal property. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. May his soul rest in peace."

The social media star died during a VIP weekend trip to Las Vegas, where he had been attending the Concours luxury car show along with journalists and other social media influencers.

No details have been given on the cause of his death, but the people who met over the weekend believed he was happy and healthy.

Anunay began his career doing growth-hacking for other influencers before giving social media a god himself, releasing videos of low-budget trips and hikes around the Himalayas.

He then began to grow more and more, and so did his travel budget, which led him to shoot professional films in 46 countries around the world.

He put his success and his 1.4 million followers down to his quick ability to adapt.

Speaking to Forbes India last year, he said: “You have to adapt. I never considered Instagram and all these platforms to be my primary source of income; it was always secondary, and I was doing it for my passion because I love travelling and I loved showing it to other people.”
