PLA report warns Chinese cities of potential nuclear attacks, flags Japan as ‘threat’

A new study by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Rocket Force has warned Chinese cities to prepare for potential nuclear attacks, singling out Japan as a “major danger signal” to the world.According to the report, the likelihood of a large-scale global nuclear war was “relatively low,” South China Morning Post reported.“However, the possibility cannot be ruled out that small or medium-sized nuclear-armed or potentially nuclear-armed states, driven by geopolitical or religious conflicts, could carry out a single nuclear-weapon terrorist attack on neighbouring countries or on key cities of major powers,” it said.Why report singled out JapanThe study noted that Tokyo had yet to join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the first legally binding international agreement banning nuclear arms, adopted in 2017.
