Yinon Levi, who was recently removed from the US sanctions list, would face up to 12 years in prison if found guilty Israeli prosecutors charged Jewish settler Yinon Levi on Thursday with reckless homicide over the fatal 2025 shooting of Palestinian community leader Awdah Hathaleen in the occupied West Bank, marking the first such indictment in seven years.Hathaleen, a 31-year-old teacher, was killed on July 28 during an altercation with settlers who brought excavators into the village of Umm al-Khair to level land for a new outpost. Jewish settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law because the UN views them as obstacles to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.Videos of the incident show Levi brandishing a pistol during a confrontation with local residents and firing shots toward the crowd.
