Ligue 1 matchday 10 was full of surprises. With nine matches scheduled on Wednesday, the day promised to be intense. Heavily favoured against Lorient, PSG could only manage a 1-1 draw. The European champions still retained the top spot in the league, ahead of Monaco, who rose to second place after their spectacular 5-3 victory over Nantes.
Marseille could have claimed second place as well, but they were held to a 2-2 draw at home against Angers.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s woes continue. The English champions suffered a 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in the League Cup round of 16. The Reds have now lost six of their last seven matches.
It’s quite the opposite for Bayern Munich, who secured their 14th victory in 14 matches this season, setting a new European record. The German side beat FC Köln 4-1 in the German Cup.
In tennis, Jannik Sinner eased into the round of 16 at the Paris Masters 1000. The 24-year-old Italian will regain the world No. 1 spot if he wins the title.
