Pasadena mayor counters 'PR stunt' attack

Harry, Meghan were helping anonymously, Pasadena mayor Victor Gordo said.

As Meghan Markle and Harry drew flak for visiting an evacuation center at Pasadena, mayor Victor Gordo said no one knew Harry and Meghan were serving food there. "They were serving food anonymously. No one knew they were serving food.-- with masks. They didn't come out here for publicity. They came out to work," Victor Gordo said calling them "great people, great personalities, great heart".
"They really buoyed the spirit of the first responders. People were very happy to see them," the mayor said referring to their visit to the first responders after serving food "anonymously".
The Fox 11 reporter also told the mayor that she saw Meghan Markle getting down and picking something from the ground indicating that she did not mind "getting dirty".
When the reporter narrated Harry and Meghan's visit, she mentioned that they were "informed" about the visit and all this snowballed into major controversy calling this Harry and Meghan's another PR stunt.

Earlier, Harry and Meghan announced that they would open the doors of their $14 million Montecito home to their loved ones who were forced to evacuate due to the Palisades and the Eaton wildfires. Their critics said they manage to make every tragedy about themselves as there was no need to issue a statement on California wildfires as they do not represent the royals.

Conspiracy theories surface over Harry-Meghan's visit to evacuation center

Many social media users, mostly Meghan-haters, claimed that it was a PR stunt and there were cameras with them and the media was also informed. One viral X post claimed that the woman whom Meghan Markle was hugging with teary eyes was seen later with Meghan Markle hinting that probably she was a team member.

'Meghan Markle can go anywhere she wants'

Social media accounts sympathizing with Meghan Markle said she is a free citizen and can go anywhere she wants. "Would really like to know what #MeghanMarkle and #PrinceHarry should have done instead of volunteering, opening up their home to friends in need, donating AND going to where the fires took place and speaking with some of the locals. The faux hate toward this couple has to stop," one wrote.
