‘Multiple Fatalities’ in Shooting at Dallas ICE Facility

"Multiple" people have been killed in a shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas on Wednesday morning.

Kristi Noem, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said there had been "multiple injuries and fatalities" and that the suspected shooter was found dead by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families," she said in a post on X.

Police have yet to confirm details of the attack, but local ABC affiliate WFAA reported that two ICE detainees were killed and one person was injured in the shooting.

Police responded to the incident around 7.30 am local time, according to WFAA.

ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons told CNN that "preliminary information is a possible sniper" was behind the shooting.

“It could be employees, it could be civilians that were visiting the facility, it could be detainees,” Lyons said of those who were shot. “At this point, we’re still working through that.”

Vice President JD Vance said in a post on X: "The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop. I'm praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families."

ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment from TIME.
