A massive drone attack was unleashed on Moscow in the early hours of Sunday, local authorities have claimed. Pictures circulating on social media show explosions erupting in various areas of the Russian capital and the surrounding areas, including at an oil refinery.
The drone attack killed at least three people across the Moscow region and injured 12 more, Russian officials have alleged. Moscow regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov claimed two men died in the Pogorelki village, while a woman was killed in Khimki, north of Moscow.

He also alleged several high-rise buildings and infrastructure facilities had been damanged in the attack.
All four Moscow airports saw their operations disrupted multiple times since late Saturday in light of the attack.
The attack on the Moscow region appeared to be part of a larger offence, with the Defence Ministry of Russia saying that more than 550 drones had been downed over the country.
