Melania Trump's new movie could be set for a tough opening night as a theatre in the US shows no tickets being sold. The documentary about the First Lady, will be shown across hundreds of screens nationwide after Amazon, the movie’s distributor, spent millions to launch it in cinemas around the world.
Despite Amazon splashing out $40m (£29m) on the film, it appears the movie could struggle as it hits the screens. Not a single ticket has been sold for the 9.55pm viewing at the busiest movie theatre in the metro-Jacksonville area. Cinemark Jacksonville's website shows that every single seat is available with people even being able to purchase up to 20 tickets.

— Travis Akers ???????????? (@travisakers) January 27, 2026It appears this isn’t the only cinema where Melania’s film has failed to sell any seats. One X user shared an image of the 3.30pm screening of the documentary in Atlanta and once again every seat was available.
The X user posted: "Zero sold in Atlanta. Opening night. Busy theater." The film is not likely to be a smash hit with the UK audience either, Tim Richards, the chief executive of Vue, told The Telegraph that interest in the documentary, which opens in British cinemas on Friday, had so far been weak.
Melania is on track to be released in almost 30 countries worldwide. The UK’s four largest cinema operators – Odeon, Vue, Cineworld and Showcase – are all scheduled to hold screenings.
The documentary follows the 20 days leading up to the Presidential Inauguration in January 2025, Melania Trump granted Amazon MGM Studios behind-the-scenes access to her life.
Melania said: “History is set in motion during the 20 days of my life prior to the U.S. Presidential Inauguration. For the first time, global audiences are invited into theaters to witness this pivotal chapter unfold—a private, unfiltered look as I navigate family, business, and philanthropy on my remarkable journey to becoming First Lady of the United States of America.”

The First Lady told Fox News: “[This story] has never been told, and because the subject matter is historically consequential, it was imperative for me to produce a film of the highest cinematic standard, suitable exclusively in theaters worldwide.
"The 20 days of my life, preceding the U.S. Presidential inauguration, constitutes a rare and defining moment—one that warrants meticulous care, integrity, and uncompromising craftsmanship," she said. "I am proud to share this very specific moment of my life—20 days of intense transition and planning—with moviegoers and fans across the globe.”
