A British man has been jailed for murdering his wife in a brutal attack just weeks after they got married. Ahmed Yasin Muse, 28, plunged a screwdriver through the head of 26-year-old Ayan Mohomed Dhoba following a row at a hotel in Istanbul.
Muse was sentenced to life behind bars at the Istanbul Justice Palace on Boxing Day. He claimed he woke to find his dead wife covered in blood, but a forensic report declared he was fully responsible. The 28-year-old also claimed he suffered psychological problems, but judges found he killed his wife intentionally in the awful attack.
As reported by The Sun, the couple, British nationals, had flown to Istanbul together on November 11, 2023. However, Ayan was heard screaming in their hotel room on November 14 and staff found her lying in a pool of blood.
She had suffered 41 wounds to her throat and body, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, CCTV showed Muse leaving the hotel alone before he was arrested wearing a t-shirt covered in blood.
He confessed to stabbing his wife but claimed to suffer psychological problems. He claimed he attacked her after she offered him drugs and they got into an argument.
Muse repeatedly stabbed Ayan with a screwdriver, including a fatal blow to her head. Police later found the weapon in the hotel bathroom.

Victim was 'exceptionally compassionate'
Ayan's family said in a GoFundMe page after the murder: "Our dear sister, Ayan Mohammed Dhobah, tragically lost her life only a month into her marriage, a time meant for joy turned into a heartbreaking incident of cold-blooded murder.
"Ayan displayed qualities of kindness, forgiveness, compassion, empathy, and generosity.
"She was exceptionally compassionate and consistently sought to contribute to the well-being of the less fortunate. The void left by her departure is profound."
