Major airport to close from August to October - all flights cancelled

Air traffic will be paused from August 15 until October 31 while its only runway and other major infrastructure are refurbished.Belgium's second-busiest airport said it will "plan these projects, identify operational constraints and manage their impacts". It said: "A complete refurbishment of Charleroi airport's sole runway (which has an estimated lifespan of 25 years), together with other major infrastructure modernisation works, has been scheduled by SOWAER for the second half of 2028.
