With President Emmanuel Macron expected to announce his next major move soon, uncertainty remains over how he intends to navigate France out of its growing political and economic turmoil. As the crisis deepens, confidence in his ability to deliver a decisive solution is fading, and he is increasingly losing the backing of former allies, including three of his past prime ministers. Macron’s current options include calling a snap general election or appointing a new, sixth prime minister since 2022, potentially a center-left Socialist, who could help break the political deadlock and push through the substantial budget cuts needed to prevent a looming debt crisis in the EU’s second-largest economy.
