A self-proclaimed psychic has warned that a secretive meeting of military officials in the US could shake up the world order. Athos Salomé, a Brazilian fortune teller dubbed "the living Nostradamus", said US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth's gathering of around 800 generals and admirals from around the world signalled the beginning of "a new silent war". Details that emerged from the meeting, held at the Quantico base in Virginia on Tuesday, included Hegseth's praise of fitness standards that could restrict women from combat roles and his denouncement of "absolutely unacceptable ... fat generals".
Salomé said the last-minute meeting, about which the Pentagon refused to confirm details, could see "decisions made behind closed doors" having "repercussions across the globe". "What looks like a simple meeting may actually be a rehearsal for a reconfiguration of power," he said. "This always poses risks to democracy. The signs point to a new silent war, where military presence can be reinforced without the population being automatically alerted," Salomé added.

The 38-year-old 'Nostradamus' said the gathering of military officials from around the world hinted that the US was considering a "drastic change in doctrine", particularly relating to the "repositioning of forces in key regions such as the Middle East and Asia".
"Extraordinary meetings like this signal profound ruptures, whether in the balance between civilians and military or in the redefinition of American global strategy," he said.
Salomé added that he believes the next three months could be crucial in assessing the larger impact of the meeting. Alongside anything else, it was a way for the US to demonstrate its strength and authority to the rest of the world, he suggested.
"When you put hundreds of officers in one place, the message is not only inernal," the 38-year-old said. "It is also a message to rival powers that the US is ready to act as a bloc in the face of any threat."
The self-styled psychic also pointed to the significance of the meeting's location, at a US base linked to special operations and intelligence.
"This suggests a sensitive agenda, possibly involving cyber security or new generation weapons," he speculated. "High-level military decisions are usually planned months in advance. The rush reveals strategic urgency or crisis.
"The world [could] enter a phase in which decisions made behind closed doors in Washington will have immediate repercussions across the globe. What begins as a mysterious meeting may translate into new alliances, unexpected cuts and even changes in the balance of the world order."
