The French president's address to ambassadors is expected to dwell at length on ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire in Russia's war on Ukraine, days after Macron pledged to put French boots on the ground to safeguard Ukraine's security in the event of a peace deal.

Macron will also address the US raid on Venezuela that removed President Nicolas Maduro from power, which France's foreign minister described as undermining international law.
