 2028 or California Guv race

Kamala Harris will remain in the fight as she said and will reappear in the political arena soon.

Vice president Kamala Harris who is vacationing in Hawaii with her husband Doug Emhoff and keeping a low profile since her defeat in the election has privately communicated to her advisers and allies to keep her options open -- be it for a possible 2028 presidential run or for the governor election from her home state California. According to a Politico report that cited five people in Kamala Harris' inner circle, Harris is set to explore the possible paths forward with the family members over the winter holiday season.

A former campaign aide said Harris does not need to rush to decide whether she wants to run for something again in the next six months. All she needs top do is to remain visible. "The natural thing to do would be to set up some type of entity that would give her the opportunity to travel and give speeches and preserve her political relationships," the former aide said.
The most awaited moment right now is Kamala Harris' next speaking occasion where she will also reveal her role in the Democratic Party. "Closing out her term as vice president, she’s set to preside over certifying the November election she lost to Trump, and then appear at the once-and-future president’s inauguration on Jan. 20," the report said.
As of now, the first thing Harris has to decide is whether they will take up permanent residence at their home in Los Angeles or shift their base somewhere else. She will have to set up a personal office as she will be out of public office.

"The good news for Harris, according to her allies, is that her standing in the party increased the longer that she ran her short campaign, which is rare in electoral politics. Her allies believe that the toxicity that surrounded John Kerry or Hillary Clinton after their losses is unlikely to taint Harris’ political future in the same way," the report said.
