A small nodule was found in Joe Biden's prostate after he underwent a "routine physical exam", a spokesperson said. They told ABC news in the US: " In a routine physical exam a small nodule was found in the prostate which necessitated further evaluation." The discovery will require further testing asn it can mean a range of things. It could be a benine lump or caused by something more serius, but it is too early to tell.
Prostate problems such as benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer are common for men over the age of 50. During his presidency in 2023, Biden had a lesion removed from his chest that was cancerous. He has also had several non-melanoma skin cancers removed. White House physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor said at the time: "As expected, the biopsy confirmed that the small lesion was basal cell carcinoma. All cancerous tissue was successfully removed. No further treatment is required."

He added: "Basal cell carcinoma lesions do not tend to 'spread' or metastasize, as some more serious skin cancers such as melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma are known to do. They do, however, have the potential to increase in size, resulting in a more significant issue as well as increased challenges for surgical removal."
However, O'Connor revealed that the "site of the biopsy has healed nicely and the President will continue dermatologic surveillance as part of his ongoing comprehensive healthcare."
Concerns over Biden's advanced age and health led him to ditch his presidential campaign last year, leading to Kamala Harris running for the Democrats. However, his doctor declared him "fit to serve" after a routine physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center while he was still president in February 2024.
