Three prison inmates were arrested last month after they threatend to kill the ex-French president.

Cops swooped in on their cells when a video of Nicholas subject to macabre threats went viral online.

Following the incident the 70-year-old now refuses to touch any food served to him in his cell, according to Le Point.

He reportedly fears someone may have spat in his rations or perhaps something even poisoned it.

The former president only has one other option, buying from the canteen and cooking for himself.

A source told Le Point: “He doesn’t even know how to boil an egg!

“And, besides, on principle he refuses to do it.”

According to reports Nicholas has taken to prowling the canteen and on the menu is a series of very bizarre items.

His favourites are said to include tuna in oil and yogurts.

Nicholas, who was jailed for “criminal conspiracy” had several personal belonging delivered before his arrival.

He humbly cleans his own cell with a small broom and has a sports bag tucked away containing a few personal belongings.

The father of three has been incarcerated in the famous Parisian Jail since October 21st and he his arrival has already caused a stir with staff.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez ordered two officers from the VIP Protection Service, the SDLP, to occupy the “cell next door to the former president’s for 24 hours a day”.

The first president to be jailed since Marshall Philippe Pétain, the wartime Nazi collaborator, brought in his own special guards and regular screws at La Santé have complained.

Shortly after he was jailed a video appeared online and an inmate could be heard shouting: “Right next to it, there’s solitary confinement below—it’s solitary confinement, he’s just above.

“And we know everything –  we’re going to avenge Gaddafi.

“We know everything, Sarko… Give back the billions of dollars.”

Other prisoners are said to be trying to keep Nicholas up at night in his 29-foot cell, which looks directly out onto the prison yard.

He was handed a five-year sentence in the slammer for conspiring to accept laundered cash from the late Libyan dictator, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

The conspiracy related to his 2007 presidential campaign, which was illegally financed.

He was acquitted on all other charges.
