The stunning Amalfi Coast, a top destination for travellers from around the world, now has a newly upgraded gateway with the opening of the revamped Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport

The airport, which has undergone a £400 million transformation, is set to significantly enhance travel to the iconic Italian coastline, with budget airlines like easyJet already launching services.

Managed by Naples airport operator GESAC, Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport has seen substantial modernisation, including a new terminal and an extended runway.

This upgrade allows it to handle larger commercial aircraft, making the breathtaking region more accessible to international tourists.

The first flights following the airport’s reopening took off on July 11, with Volotea operating the inaugural service from Nantes, followed shortly by easyJet’s arrival from Milan Malpensa.

The airport's new services don’t stop there - both airlines are now connecting Salerno with major European cities, including London Gatwick, Berlin, Geneva, Basel, Verona, Cagliari, and Catania.

Ryanair is also expanding its footprint at the airport, offering flights to Milan Bergamo, London Stansted, and Turin.

Additionally, Universal Air has launched flights to Malta, broadening the airport’s reach and providing travellers with more options to explore the Mediterranean.

Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport’s history as a former military base and business jet facility has been transformed by this significant investment, allowing it to serve as a commercial hub that will ease travel congestion and bring visitors directly to the heart of the Amalfi Coast.

This development is set to boost the region’s tourism, as travellers can now bypass the more crowded Naples International Airport and head straight to Salerno.

The convenience of flying directly to the Amalfi Coast is expected to attract even more tourists, eager to explore the area’s stunning cliffs, vibrant towns, and crystal-clear waters.
