Israel striking Hamas targets in Gaza after reports soldiers attacked

Israel says it has begun striking Hamas targets in Gaza after reporting that its soldiers have been fired at.

Earlier on Saturday local health authorities reported an Israeli airstrike on a car in Gaza City killed at least four people and wounded several others.

Witnesses and medics said the attack in the densely populated Rimal neighbourhood set the vehicle ablaze.

The incident is a further test of a fragile ceasefire between Palestinian militant group Hamas and Israel.

In Gaza, a ceasefire between the two sides has held since 10 October.
