Israel has launched fresh strikes on Lebanon despite Donald Trump's ceasefire agreement with Iran on Wednesday. The attack comes hours after a ceasefire was announced in the US- Israeli war with Iran.
Israel Defence forces said that the strike on Wednesday targeted more than 100 Hezbollah headquarters, military arrays, and command-and-control centers in Beirut, Beqaa and southern Lebanon. Several videos and pictures circulated online show black smoke covering most parts of the capital. Describing the situation in Beirut, one of the social media users wrote on X: "Apocalyptic scenes in Lebanon’s capital right now. Israel has launched 100 airstrikes on Lebanon in 10 minutes. Striking South Lebanon, Beirut and the Bekaa Valley simultaneously. This isn’t a ceasefire. It’s mass bombardment of civilian areas."

Israel military said in a statement: "The State of Lebanon and its civilians must refuse Hezbollah’s entrenchment in civilian areas and its weapons build-up capabilities."
Lebanon's prime minister criticised Israel's renewed bombardment of his country and said the attack disregards all peace efforts and humanitarian laws in the Middle East.
Nawaf Salam said on X, after Israel bombed parts of Beirut: "Israel continues to expand its aggressions that have targeted densely populated residential neighbourhoods.
"These strikes were "heedless of all regional and international efforts to stop the war" and showed an "utter disregard for the principles of international law and international humanitarian law,"

The UNHCR, Lebanon wrote on X: "One of the largest waves of Israeli strikes so far has just hit over 60 locations across Beirut and beyond. Deaths are mounting. Destruction is massive. Civilians are paying the price. Again. They are not a target. They must be protected.
"Around 100 Israeli strikes without prior warning hit Lebanon in under 10 minutes. Civilians are bearing the brunt including in Beirut neighbourhoods sheltering those already displaced. It cannot be said enough: civilians are not a target. They must be protected."
