Beach Boys co-founder and lead singer Mike Love has listed his large Lake Tahoe estate for $43 million, ending more than four decades of family ownership. The 83-year-old musician bought the 2.5-acre hillside property in 1979 for $435,000. Over the years, Love and his wife, Jacquelyne, built an 18,922-square-foot compound designed as both a private family home and a place for creative work. Located at 969 Fairview Boulevard in Incline Village on the Nevada side of the lake, the asking price is nearly 99 times what the couple originally paid for the undeveloped land.Built for privacy and creative workInstead of building directly on the busy lakefront, Love chose a higher site overlooking the water. This gave the family more privacy while providing wide views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada. To protect the property from future development, the family bought six nearby acres and placed them under permanent conservation. This legal protection keeps the surrounding pine forest and rocky landscape from being developed, preserving the views and privacy.
