Trump announced on Saturday that neither Nikki Haley nor Mike Pompeo, the former secretary of state, would be part of his administration. He made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Haley responded to his statement on X, saying, "I was proud to work with President Trump defending America at the United Nations. I wish him, and all who serve, great success in moving us forward to a stronger, safer America over the next four years."

Haley, the former US ambassador to the United Nations under Trump, and Pompeo were both considered potential contenders for cabinet positions in a second Trump term.
Trump’s statement explicitly ruled out both politicians: “I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation." He added that he enjoyed working with them previously and thanked them for their service.

Haley recently ran against Trump in the Republican primary but ultimately endorsed him at the Republican National Convention. During her speech, she addressed those hesitant about Trump, saying, "I know there are people out there who don’t agree with Donald Trump 100%. I happen to know some of them. My message is simple: You don’t have to agree with Donald Trump 100% of the time to vote for him."

Pompeo, who has maintained a lower profile since leaving office, has not publicly responded to Trump's statement.
