Police and paramedics have rushed to a property in Christchurch, New Zealand, after reports of shots being fired during a suspected home invasion, with several people believed to be injured.

Shots have reportedly been fired during a home invasion Christchurch, New Zealand, as multiple police cars and ambulances swarm the scene. Police cordoned off the property and residents in surrounding streets were urged to remain indoors while emergency crews responded to the incident.

A significant police presence remains in the area as officers carry out enquiries, with investigators expected to stay at the address for several hours. At least six ambulances are at the scene. A reporter from Radio New Zealand (RNZ), who is in Hoani Street in Northcote, understands that several people have been injured. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, although this has not yet been officially confirmed. Police said further information would be released once the circumstances of the incident have been confirmed.
