British Airways flight to London loses wheel during take-off
This is the shock moment the wheel on a British Airways plane bound for London falls off shortly after takeoff, with the tyre crashing to the ground.
It happened on Monday, when an Airbus A350-1000 was flying to London from Las Vegas. The plane left Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) at around 9pm. Footage showed one of the wheels dropping from the back section of the aircraft.
The US Sun reported it was later confirmed that one of the main landing gear wheels had flung off the aircraft and landed in an LAS airfield. No one was injured on the ground.
Quoted by the US Sun, LAS confirmed the incident and said: “Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is aware of an incident involving a British Airways aircraft that departed LAS last night and continued on to London.
“The tyre was retrieved from the LAS airfield. There were no reported injuries or damage to airport property. The National Transportation Safety Board has been notified.”
