Health officials said the infant suffered a severe medical emergency after being accidentally left inside a vehicle by his father during sweltering temperatures, which reached a peak of 41.9C outside.The toddler was taken to Fuerteventura General Hospital in a critical condition before being airlifted to the Maternal and Children's Hospital in Gran Canaria for specialist treatment on Saturday (August 1). Despite the efforts of medical teams, the child sadly died. This marks the first heat-related death reported in the Canary Islands this summer, according to regional Health Department sources.
