According to officers, the teenager, in her statement, said that she was persuaded by one of the accused to accompany him for a car ride in Lucknow, India, and then during the journey she was allegedly taken to a room and sexually assaulted by the three men.
Police launched an investigation to track down the accused, which led to their arrests. Officers also seized the vehicle allegedly used to transport the teen to the room, reports The Times of India.
Investigators also collected forensic evidence, examined witness accounts, and evaluated the sequence of events which led up to the alleged assault. The 15-year-old was also sent for a medical examination after her statement was recorded.
Naveen Kumar Singh, the additional deputy commissioner of police, said that evidence found, including medical findings and the victim’s statement, is all being incorporated into the police investigation.
The case is being treated as a priority because the victim is a minor, Mr Singh added.
