A 14-year-old girl who went on an errand to buy vegetables for her family was abducted from the street before being drugged and raped by two men, police believe. The girl had left her home on Saturday evening and her frantic family reported her missing before she was found unconscious in a desolate location outside her village, it is reported. Two men, aged 35 and 36, have been arrested on suspicion of gang rape.
The girl had popped out to buy vegetables near Charrett Town of Allegra district, in Uttar Pradesh, India. According to police, the teen left her home on Saturday evening, and when she did not return home as expected, her family launched a “desperate search for her throughout the night”.
She was eventually found in an unconscious state, a desolate location. Their search was aided by a passer-by who reported seeing the girl being led out of the village by two men. The family contacted the police to pass on the information shortly before the girl was found unconscious.
Local officers, meanwhile, raided the suspect's home, and when confronted, they attempted to flee. Police said one of the men sustained injuries after jumping from the upper floor of a house in his bid to escape.
Preliminary investigations are focusing on suggesting the victim was forced to take a drug that rendered her immobile before being assaulted.
