The tourist, identified by staff as a 41-year-old British national, had been staying alone at a hotel in the Patong area of the Thai island since July 24.The hotel’s head housekeeper said the room was last cleaned on 27 July, and after that the guest had put up the sign requesting not to be disturbed on the door, a common feature in hotels. Staff then didn't enter the room in the days that followed out of respect for the sign, The Sun reports. He was due to check out on Monday, and the head housekeeper knocked on the door at around 11am local time.
