Police in India are now investigating her alleged rape and murder. The teenager was alone at her home in Hailakandi district, in the north-eastern state of Assam, when the alleged attack is believed to have happened during the early hours of August 1.After discovering her daughter, the girl's mother alerted neighbours, who called the police. Officers launched an investigation and questioned five people before arresting three suspects. Two were later released, leaving two adult suspects and one juvenile accused in connection with the case.
