A 13-year-old girl died after falling in a notorious abandoned building on a holiday hotspot loved by Brits. The tragic incident occured at the cliff-top building in Anaza in the north of Tenerife.

This is the fifth such incident on this building leaving the residents furious. The locals have urged to take urgent action as intruders are ignoring security fencing. Reports suggest that the 13-year-old girl had been playing inside the unfinished hotel, locally referred to as the “Anaza monstrosity,” along with three of her friends. The building, long considered unsafe and notorious in the area, became the site of the accident when the girl was discovered in distress.

Her companions, shocked and frightened, immediately raised the alarm, drawing attention to the scene and alerting emergency services. Investigators are now working to determine how the children gained access to the site, whether safety measures were in place, and what factors may have contributed to the tragedy.

In 2017, residents of Añaza publicly reported that at least four people had died in the building: three in accidents and the fourth in a suspected suicide. They explained: “The building has completely exposed elevator shafts, and anyone entering could easily fall down them if they're not careful, trip, or plummet from any of the floors.”

In 2022, a 50-year-old woman threatened to jump from the 13th floor. Police intervention was crucial in preventing a tragedy.

Two years earlier, in 2020, two people entered the abandoned building. Their pastime that day was jumping between the building's balconies, which are open to the sky. It's common for them to enter the building to fly a drone or launch flares.
