German special forces rushed to a school after one person was left with serious injuries due to a horrific stabbing. The Westfalenkolleg, a vocational school in Paderborn, was on lockdown following the incident after triggering a "rampage" alarm, which calls police to the scene following a shooting or stabbing. 

One student was believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Woman stabbed in gym by male suspect

Biefield Police said they were called at 1.15pm to reports of a female student being stabbed in the gym by a man.

The school then reportedly triggered the "rampage alarm", which calls the police in the event of a shooting or knife attack.

Student in life-threatening condition

A student is in life-threatening condition and requires emergency surgery after the school stabbing, police confirmed. 

A Biefield Police spokesperson said: "The student suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently undergoing emergency surgery."

The suspect is now in custody after entering the school with a blade, as per local reports.
