A horrific stabbing attack has left at least one person dead and two more injured in Mellrichstadt, Germany. A man attacked four employees of a utility company in the small Bavarian town, and a 21-year-old German citizen was arrested at the scene, according to German outlet Bild. It is believed that the person who was killed, 59, was stabbed in the neck and upper body.
Two seriously injured individuals are aged 55 and 62. "Caring for the injured is our top priority, as is clarifying the exact circumstances of the crime," a police spokesman said. They added: "A police operation is currently underway in Mellrichstadt. Police officers and emergency services are on scene in large numbers."

The motive of the alleged attacker is currently unclear, but police have confirmed that the 21-year-old arrested in connection with the incident is a German citizen.
There was never any danger to the public, Bild reports.
Bild has reported that the company where the attack is thought to have taken place, Überlandwerk Rhön GmbH, is an energy supply firm that serves the Rhön region.
220 people are employed by it, including 20 trainees.
Mellrichstadt is a town in the Rhön-Grabfeld district of Bavaria, near the border with Thuringia.
