This included the transmission of national defense information to the Iranian government.

The now 47-year-old suspected of being Iran’s secret weapon, served in the US military between 1997 and 2008.

She then worked as a US government contractor until 2010 and defected to Iran in 2013, according to the FBI.

While serving in the US Air Force, she had access to highly sensitive and top secret foreign intelligence and counterintelligence information including the identities of undercover personnel working for US intelligence.

In her 2019 indictment, then-Assistant Attorney General John Demers alleged that after she defected, Witt revealed the existence of a “highly classified intelligence collection program” to Iran.

This allegedly included the identity of a US intelligence officer whose life was subsequently put in danger.

Her alleged actions on the behalf of Iran included sharing documents and information about US defense “with the intent and reason to believe that the same would be used to the injury of the United States and to the advantage of Iran,” per the indictment.

“Monica Witt allegedly betrayed her oath to the Constitution more than a decade ago by defecting to Iran and providing the Iranian regime National Defense Information and likely continues to support their nefarious activities,” FBI Washington Field Office’s Counterintelligence and Cyber Division Special Agent Daniel Wierzbicki said.

The FBI has not forgotten and believes that during this critical moment in Iran’s history, there is someone who knows something about her whereabouts.”

Her known aliases are Fatemah Zahra and Narges Witt.

“The FBI wants to hear from you so you can help us apprehend Witt and bring her to justice,” the special agent added.

Anyone who has information about Witt should contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

They can contact their local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate or submit a tip via tips.fbi.gov.

The additional pressure to hunt down the top intelligence officer comes as President Donald Trump warns he will decimate Iran as the conflict continues to rumble on in the Middle East.
