Around 600 former and current employees who worked at the iconic Bahía Príncipe Fantasía hotel in Golf Del Sur, southern Tenerife, are set to be paid a total of €7.1million (£6.1million), the Supreme Court of the Canary Islands (TSJC) has ruled. The court declared a deal Hoteles Piñero Canarias struck in July 2025 with its former works council null and void, for a 15% profit share among staff who worked at the hotel between June 2021 and September 2022.

This agreement attempted to cut the amount by more than half, by excluding hundreds of staff who have left the company. The TSJC found that the hotel group tried to impose an illegal debt reduction, lowering the payout to €3million (£2.6million) and benefiting only about half of the employees still on the payroll. The TSJC described the move as harmful and self-serving, noting that it contradicted an earlier ruling that had already set the amount owed at over €7.1 million for all 600 affected workers.

The judgment takes immediate effect, meaning any payments made under the now-void agreement are invalid and must be corrected, according to Canarian Weekly.

The impressive Fantasia Bahia Principe Tenerife opened in November 2018, a family-friendly property located on Tenerife's Costa San Miguel. It features 370 rooms, four restaurants and six bars, two swimming pools, waterparks, a children's club and a kids-only Bahia Spa.

Its crowning glory, however, is its impressive fairytale castle, which looks as though it has been taken straight from a Disney theme park.

According to easyJet: "Arising mirage-like from the Golf del Sur, this hotel complex is both luxurious and full of fun for all ages and stages. In particular, it's a superb choice for family vacations and comes complete with a fairytale castle that's sure to enchant younger guests, along with direct access to the promenade."

Hoteles Piñero Canarias, operating under the Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts brand, offers all-inclusive, high-quality holidays in the Canary Islands. They also run the Bahia Principe Sunlight San Felipe in Puerto de la Cruz, offering panoramic views of Mount Tiede on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other.

This comes after Brits planning Spanish getaways were urged to verify their accommodation reservations as tens of thousands of unlawful holiday rentals face closure orders. Spain's Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda has informed online platforms about 86,275 illegal tourist and short-term rental properties, demanding their immediate delisting. Platforms hosting these properties - which may appear across multiple websites, including Airbnb and Booking.com - must now remove them from their sites.
