X user Ukraine Battle Map wrote: "Putin being driven around in the US Presidential Cadillac Limousine after murdering several hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and soldiers in Ukraine is a disgrace to America and all of NATO."
Another, called Really American, branded the move "utterly despicable".

Another X user, amuse, believes the US team made a mistake in allowing Putin to ride the car with the US President.

Pictures seemingly showing US soldiers fixing the red carpet outside of Putin's plane before he walked down the stairs also angered some. One user, Euan_MacDonald, wrote: "Depressing and disgusting sight: US soldiers on their knees laying out the red carpet for a murderous fascist dictator".
Analysing the moment, BBCRussia editor Vitaliy Shevchenko said: "The Russian president was signalling to his US counterpart that he trusts him - and likes him and his car.
