UK travellers in Paris are set to be hit by huge disruption this Friday after an unexploded bomb was discovered on railway tracks near Gare du Nord. French transport minister Philippe Tabarot told local media the incident has been causing "panic" on the railway network and that traffic will be impacted all day.
The World War II bomb, which a railway worker described as weighing 300 kilos, was found overnight amid works on the railway in St Denis - about 1.5 miles from the Gare du Nord platforms. All Eurostar trains are suspended, with international travellers being asked to rebook their tickets for a later date. All RER, regional and TGV trains are also suspended and huge delays are being reported in the area.

A bomb squad from Paris is still assessing the situation and has been working at the scene since about 6am, French national railway company SNCF said.
The picture below is believed to be showing the bomb which Fabien Villedieu, who works for SNCF, says weighs 300 kilos.
Mr Tabarot told Sud Radio that nearby residents are safe and that "ideally" some services would resume this afternoon.

Services departing Paris for London have been cancelled and four journeys from St Pancras station have also been axed.
The Eurostar website states: "Due to an object on the tracks near Paris Gare du Nord, we are expecting disruption to our services this morning. Please change your journey for a different date of travel.
"You can exchange your ticket for free to travel at a different time or date in the same travel class. This is subject to availability. Please keep an eye on eurostar.com or the Eurostar app for further updates."
Eurostar services to and from Brussels appear to be unaffected.
The discovery of unexploded munitions from World War I and II is not uncommon in France, but it is rare for one to be found in such a busy and prominent location as Paris's major transport hub.
The Gare du Nord, in the city's northern area, serves around 700,000 people a day and is thought to be France's busiest railway terminal.
