A suspect has been shot following a stabbing attack at a school in the city of Essen, German police reported on X on Friday. The suspect was injured by gunfire during his arrest and is now receiving medical care.
Earlier this morning, a knifeman attacked a teacher inside a vocational college in Germany. It is not confirmed whether others were injured.
The police have confirmed a police helicopter has been scrambled to the scene and locals in Essen have been urged to avoid the area while the search for the attacker is ongoing.
The teacher is said to be severely injured in hospital undergoing emergency surgery.

An 18-year-old stabbed a teacher in Germany
An 18-year-old Kosovar national stabbed a teacher at a school in the western German city of Essen, leaving the victim seriously injured.
Authorities confirmed that while the teacher sustained severe wounds, their life is not in danger.
According to police, the attacker then attempted to charge at responding officers while still armed. The officers opened fire, fatally shooting him.
