The waxwork figure of Emmanuel Macron has been stolen from a Parisian museum by people claiming to be Greenpeace environmental activists. According to police sources, two women and a man entered the Grevin Museum in central Paris under the guise of tourists, covered the statue with a blanket, and exited through an emergency door. It's reported that the activists changed their clothes once inside to resemble staff members, enabling them to approach the exhibit.

Another report suggested that a man contacted the museum shortly after, claiming to be a Greenpeace member responsible for the theft. The activists then staged a protest outside the Russian embassy in the 16th arrondissement, complete with placards, a Russian flag, mock road signs, and the stolen wax statue of French President.

Jean-François Julliard, the director general of Greenpeace France, stated: "For us, France is playing a double game. Emmanuel Macron embodies this double discourse: he supports Ukraine but encourages French companies to continue trading with Russia."

He added that Mr Macron was specifically targeted due to his significant role in the situation and should lead European discussions to terminate trade contracts between European countries and Russia.

Despite sanctions, France continues to import substantial amounts of gas and uranium from Russia. Between 2021 and 2022, France tripled its imports from Russia.

The £35,000 waxwork of the 47-year-old has been ridiculed since it was unveiled in 2018, often being compared to a Thunderbird puppet or a Ken and Barbie doll.

Even museum staff acknowledged that the waxwork did not look much like Mr Macron.

The Grevin Museum's director, Yves Delhommeau, commented: 'A tense and anguished face, a frozen statue that doesn't live, this is not beautiful, it is something that just doesn't work. '

Mr Macron did not meet with the team for a facial scan, forcing sculptors to rely on photographs.
