Speculation continues to surround the mysterious bruising seen once more on the hand of Donald Trump. Images of the US President’s hand went viral on Monday after he was pictured signing executive orders in the Oval Office with dark bruising on his right hand.
Rumours have swirled throughout his second presidency after several appearances where Trump has been seen with significant bruising or with makeup that differs in colour to his skin attempting to conceal the mark. Some users online have speculated that the bruising is a sign of ill-health for the US President, with some drawing parallels with Queen Elizabeth’s final pictures before her passing in September 2022. Commenting on a picture of the late monarch meeting the then Prime Minister Liz Truss where similar deep bruising can be seen on her right hand, one user on X said: “People are now comparing these two images of Queen right before her death, and Trump yesterday, theorising that Trump is dying.

“This type of bruising is very typical after an IV injection, especially if the person is on anticoagulants or blood thinners.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt did not address the speculation following Monday’s appearance in the Oval Office but has previously blamed bruising on the amount of hand shaking conducted by the US leader.
She said: “President Trump is a man of the people and meets more Americans, shaking hands daily, than any other president in history. His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day."
Bruising to the hand is most common in minor trauma from trips and falls but in other cases can be a symptom of more serious health conditions including vitamin deficiencies or in extreme cases leukaemia or liver disease.
Queen Elizabeth II hosted Liz Truss at Balmoral just two days before her death, with photographs of the meeting showing serious bruising to the monarch’s hand, similar to that on the hand of Donald Trump.
Speaking in February after similar bruises appeared on the president’s hand, Dr Gareth Nye from the University of Salford suggested that based on the vivid greenish-purple blemish, Trump might be undergoing IV therapy, reports the Daily Star.

He added: "Bruising is much more common as you age due to the thinning of skin and weakening of blood vessels.
“As we age, even minor bumps can result in bruising and there's often very little underlying to suggest a health concern.
"This is more likely if a person is on blood thinning medication or has been exposed to excessive sunlight. It could also be a completely benign condition called Actinic purpura, which is also caused by excessive sun exposure.
"It does resemble the type of bruising left by IV drip insertion, although there's no evidence of IV usage or need."
