Donald Trump's approval rating soars, Biden's four-year low; JD Vance top choice for 2028

Donald Trump's approval rating soars after election and JD Vance right now is the top choice as the Republican presidential candidate for 2028.

President-elect

Donald Trump's approval rating

jumped six points, one of his all-time highs while outgoing president Joe Biden's ratings dropped to a four-year low, according to a new poll. An

Emerson College poll

found that Trump after the election notched a 54 per cent approval rating while Biden scored a 36 per cent rating.
Just before the election, Trump's approval rating was 48 per cent. The poll noted that Trump's present rating includes more positive views from men (61 per cent) compared to women (48 per cent).
According to Gallup, Donald Trump never cracked a 50 per cent approval rating during his first administration. “Trump’s favorability varies significantly by gender, race, and age,” explained Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling.
“Trump’s strongest age cohort is among voters 40 to 59, with 60 per cent viewing him favorably, compared to 48 per cent among those over 70. Notably, his favorability has risen among younger voters, with 55 per cent of those under 30 expressing a favorable opinion.”

Trump hit his lowest approval rating after the 2020 election.
When asked about their reaction to the 2024 election outcome, 46% of voters were surprised, compared to 54% who were not.
“There is a sharp difference in reaction to the election results based on who voters supported: 67% of Harris voters were surprised by the results, while 71% of Trump voters were not surprised by his victory,” Kimball explained.
There has been somewhat sparse polling of Trump’s favorabilities ratings in the wake of the Nov. 5 election. Another poll from the Economist/YouGov gauged it at 50% favorable to 49% unfavorable.

Overall, Trump is averaging 45.5% favorable to 51.4% unfavorable, according to the latest RealClearPolitics aggregate of polling, all of which, except Emerson and the Economist, were taken prior to the election.
According to the CBS News/YouGov survey, Trump's transition has 59 per cent approving to 41 per cent disapproving.
