A bombshell new poll has revealed that nearly 50% of Americans think Donald Trump is not being transparent about his health. The data, collected by YouGov/Economist, found that 45% of the 1,660 respondents felt that their president had been "not at all" or "not very" open about his health. On the other hand, 42% placed their trust in the Republican. A further 31% of those surveyed said the 78-year-old's health and age have severely impacted his ability to do his job, while 30% said those factors had little effect, and 29% said they had no effect at all.
Mr Trump was the oldest person to be sworn in as US president and has consistently faced questions about his physical and cognitive health, though a White House physician maintained they are both "excellent". Some Americans appear sceptical about this, as 62% of the poll's respondents said presidents should make their medical information public if it could influence their ability to do their job.

However, 28% said the president should have the same right as every other US citizen to keep their medical records private.
The US president was previously diagnosed with non-clinical coronary atherosclerosis, which the NHS describes as a condition "where your arteries become narrowed, making it difficult for blood to flow through them".
While it can lead to an increased risk of heart attack and stroke, it is not necessarily heart disease in itself.
Mr Trump recently sparked questions over his state of mind after he made a major blunder during his trip to Saudi Arabia.
