Donald Trump appeared to fall asleep in public for the second time this week while hosting leaders from Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The President of the United States was signing agreements with the Congo and Rwanda which the White House expects to unlock new opportunities for the US to access critical minerals.
Footage posted on social media appears to show Mr Trump's eyelids drooping and head nodding forwards at points in front of the TV cameras on Thursday (December 4). Political commentator, Harry Sisson, who describes himself as a Democrat, shared a video of the Republican president, writing: "Trump just fell asleep again. This keeps happening. He’s obviously not okay and anyone who believes he’s healthy is lying to themselves. We’re screwed."

— Harry Sisson (@harryjsisson) December 4, 2025Mr Trump also appeared with his eyes closed while meeting members of his senior team at the White House on Tuesday (December 2). A TV camera trained on Mr Trump during the lengthy meeting showed him at times seemingly struggling to stay alert.
As each Cabinet member offered presentations in a meeting which stretched beyond 90 minutes, Mr Trump could be seen sitting back in his chair with his eyes drooping and sometimes shutting entirely.
His right hand also appeared to have two sticking plasters on it during the meeting in the White House's Cabinet Room.
Mr Sisson observed in a subsequent tweet: "Trump has bandages on his bruise covered hand and is falling asleep at public events almost daily. This man is not well and I don’t think MAGA can deny it anymore."
Speculation about Mr Trump's health has been rife in recent months, but ahead of Tuesday's Cabinet meeting the president, referring to himself in the third person, said: "Trump is sharp."
Mr Trump’s doctor, Sean Barbabella, said the president had MRI imaging on his heart and abdomen in October as part of a preventative screening for men his age, according to a memo released by the White House on Monday.
Dr Barbabella said Mr Trump’s physical exam included “advanced imaging” which is "standard for an executive physical" in Mr Trump’s age group.
The release of the memo comes after Mr Trump, 79, told reporters on Air Force One that he had had an MRI scan at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Mr Trump said on Sunday during a separate exchange with reporters as he travelled back to Washington from Florida that the results of the MRI were "perfect".
Dr Barbabella concluded the cardiovascular and abdominal imaging was "perfectly normal", writing in his memo: "The purpose of this imaging is preventative: to identify issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure he maintains long-term vitality and function."
Claims from political opponents about Mr Trump's fitness for office come after he made repeated attempts to discredit his predecessor, Joe Biden, while the Democrat was in the White House. In June, Mr Trump ordered an investigation into Mr Biden's actions as president, claiming aides had covered up his mental state.
